Some details:
there is water only a few times in a year, usually in March or April
very nice whitewater, one of our favourites, there is water in this period, because it rained a lot in the past days classI-IV- there some sections with siphon so do some scouting. We usually start at around 7-8 kms from above the lake which is at the upper and of Baile Herculane. You should pass Dumbrava Pension at right hand and above that around 7-8 kms.
very nice creek. class III-IV. There is road all the way long the river so you can do scouting. It should be water there this time.
class II-III big volume in spring- You can start from several points, from the road which is along the river. We will be there tomorrow rafting and probably kayaking after the rafting trip.
class I, very nice and long gorge around 28 kms, once entered you cannot come out so you have to paddle a lot. Entrance at Sopotu Nou, end at Sasca Montana village.
Other nice rivers in the area, depending on water level:
: tributary of Nera: class II-III(IV) I think it should be water there in this period, there is road all the way long so you can scout It is along the road between Steierdorf (Oravita/Anina) and Bozovici, road 57B

: Close to Jiu. Northern side of Retezat Mountains, from Hateg go on road 68, turn left towards Clopotiva and go on road 685. There is a big dam on the river. You can paddle below and above the dam, depending on water level. Class II-IV. Do scouting, especially on the section above the dam, because the river can be blocked by trees.

Regarding kayakers, there are no local ones, so there is a very small chance to meet one. Allmost all kayakers live in the bigger cities of Romania like: Oradea, Cluj, Tirgu Mures, Brasov, Bucharest.
